I Will Wait
Dave X Reader
Author note: ---------------------------- signal the beginning and end of flashbacks

Dave’s POV
It was my fault. We had a fight and she left me. She moved out of  our apartment. It has been three weeks since then. Its been three weeks since we broke up. I was going to set it right though. I took all the supplies I needed and headed to the place we first met.
--------------------------------------------------------
I was just strolling down the sidewalk. Hands in my pockets and my signature shades on my face. As I rounded the corner someone ran into me. They fell to the ground and when I looked down I saw (h/c) hair. I held out my hand to the girl and she looked up at me with those amazing (e/c) orbs. Her smile, it was one of the most beautiful things ever. I felt my face heat up as she took my hand. After I apologized I asked her name and she told me it was “____”. I fell for her right there.
---------------------------------------------------------
When I finally reached the corner where I met her I sat down. I was going to wait.  I don’t care how long it takes. She’s worth it. She has to pass by again. We live in the same city after all. She’ll come. I know she will.  I took out my sleeping bag and opened it up. I don’t care about the funny looks. I cant lose her. I took out her picture and  remembered when I took it.
----------------------------------------------------------
We were on a date at the ocean. It was a long drive but it was worth it for that smile. It made me smile right back.  We played in the ocean, laid on the sand, and eventually went to a look out. It was beautiful with the setting sun. The view was perfect. I took out a camera and got her by surprise as she turned around with a huge smile. When she realize I took a photo she tried to get the camera. I held it above my head as she reached for it and complained. I just smiled and kissed her.
-------------------------------------------------------
When I finished setting up I started asking the people who passed “If  you see this girl can you tell her where I am.” That got me weird looks. Some even ran away. I didn't care I had to have her back. It was my turn to give people weird looks when people tried to hand me money.  I just held up her picture and asked them  if they saw here to tell her I’m here. An hour there turned into two. That turned into three. Eventually it was night time. That when I decided I had to sleep. She’ll come. I know she will.

Before I realized it, it had been three days. That’s when the police came. They told me straight out “You cant stay here.” Even if it was said nice I wasn't moving, do I told them straight out. “I can’t. If she changes her mind this id the first place she will go.”

By then we were attracting a crowd. They kept trying to convince me to move. But I wouldn't budge. I couldn't. Eventually he gave up. They all did. Just let me be. I drank some apple juice as I watched a couple argue in the street. It brought tears to my eyes as I remembered why I was here.
-------------------------------------------------------
“Will you shut up jeez I swear sometimes you’re so annoying!”
“Me!? I not the one whose come home drunk six days in a row Dave!!!”
I remember being annoyed. But I would never shout at her. It was the alcohol. I was drinking because of celebrations at work. I just kept letting it get out of hand. And I was an awful drunk.

The argument went on for about 20 minutes before I lost it. I hit her. I fucking hit her. It sobered me right up. Her head was hit to the side from the force. Her eyes were wide from shock.  “_-____ I’m sorry I didn't mean it…” I reached my hand out to her as her shock filled eyes filled with tears and something I never wanted to see. It was fear. Fear of me. She barley chocked out the next sentence. It was the worst thing I could possibly hear. Just two little words that hurt so much.
“We’re through.”
-----------------------------------------------------
She got all her stuff while I was at work the next day. I haven’t seen her since. It made life hell. Hell even Dirk was worried.

After I was there over a week the news people came. They tried to be discreet but they weren't so I called them over and asked them what they wanted. They said they wanted an interview. So I gave then one. They told me it would be on the news tomorrow at 11. So I waited to watch it.

Eleven o’ clock. Just like they said there it was on the news. I watched from my spot on the corner. I watched the T.V’s through the store window above me. Everything was closed and everyone was gone. The owner was just to lazy to shut them off.
BROADCAST (underlined)
I’m here with you live on sburb news. Today we tell you about “the man who cant be moved.” He has been on the corner of (random street name) for almost two week now. No one knew why. He refused to move for police men. And when he was offered money he denied it claiming he wasn't homeless.
It started to rain. Just fucking great. Matches my mood. And this wasn't a light drizzle. It was pouring. And I didn't have an umbrella. Perfect.
Our reporters managed to get a interview with this man. He is now identified as Dave Strider. We will now show you footage of our exclusive interview.
Exclusive my ass. They tried to be like stalkers at first.
Interviewer: So M. Strider why are you here?
Dave: I made a mistake and I’m trying  to fix it.
I: How does you sitting here help fix whatever it is?
D: simple. I had a fight with the most amazing girl ever. I still lover her. Like I said it was a mistake. And if she gives me another chance, this is where she would go first. It where we met.
I: and how long are you wiling to stay out here for this girl?
D: I don’t care how long it takes. I’ll stay another day, a month, a year. I don’t care how long it takes. I will wait for her. I will wait.
I: thank you for your time Mr. Strider.
She turned it back to the original guy and he continued with the other news. I just kept watching until I heard it.
“DAVE!”
I jumped straight up and looked around. that’s when I saw her running through the pouring rain. Her (h/c) hair was plastered against her face, her (e/c) squinted as the rain pored down on her. She looked like she had ran out of the house as fast as she could. She was still in her pajamas. I couldn't believe it. I said her name but I only came out a whisper.
“____” my heart beat faster the closer she got. “you came.” I couldn't help it I ran to meet her. I held my arms open and she jumped into them. I was smiling so big as I spun her through the air. “you came. You came back. You actually came.” I set her on the ground only to pull her against me and bury my head in her hair. “you came.” she squeezed me tight and I heard her mutter them. Four words. They came as the biggest relief. “I still love you.” “give me another chance?” “she pulled away to look at me and give me that amazing smile. “of course.” I kissed her. It was desperate. But I had to touch her. So I kissed her in the pouring rain. Only pulling away for this awful thing called air. I leaned my forehead against hers and told her my own four words.

“I’ll always love you.”
